No fewer than 62 Schools, Non-Governmental Organisations and other Associations participated in the celebration of Nigeria's 57th Independence Anniversary organised by the Oyo State Government. The 2017 celebrations tagged "Youth and Economic Challenges : The Way Forward" was attended by Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, members of the State Executive Council, Traditional Rulers from Ibadan, and other dignitaries.

Twelve GCI Students Win DJB Scholarship
Thursday, 29th of March 2017 was another colourful and memorable day in the history of Government College Ibadan, as twelve brilliant, diligent and indigent students from both the Junior and Senior Secondary Classes of the School were awarded with Scholarship awards.

The Government College, Ibadan has emerged champions of the fourth edition of the Government College, Ibadan Quadrangular Hockey tournament when they defeated their opponent from the International College of Arts, Science and Technology 2-0 in the final match played at the hockey pitch of the host institution.
