GCI Boy, Adesiyan Kayode emerges as the first Runner-up at the 2017 Dr (Mrs) Olufunsho Amosun Oratory Contest

image The grand finale of the 2017 Splash FM Dr. (Mrs) Olufunso Amosun Inter - Secondary School Oratory Contest came up on Friday, 26th of May, 2017 at the National Museum, Aleshinloye, Ibadan.

The event had 10 major private and public Secondary Schools drawn across Oyo State, who had progressed to the climax after series of preliminary competitions at local levels.

Adesiyan Kayode, an SSS 2 Student represented Government College Ibadan, and this only male student among the finalists slugged it out with other students from American Christian Academy; International School, Ibadan; Ibadan Grammar School; Lead City Int'l School; Sunshine Int'l School; St. Theresa College; Christ Ambassadors College; Ibadan Int'l School and All Saints College.

Adesiyan Kayode, a Powellite, Hockey Player and Social Prefect, had initially represented GCI at the recently concluded 2017 NTA Children Summit where he presented the topic, "Tackling Corruption in a Recessed Economy" and emerged as the Second Runner-up.

At the end of the keenly contested oratory competition, Ayanfe Ayeni of Lead City Int'l School emerged as the overall winner while Adesiyan Kayode, Chukwuemeka Wendy and Chiamaka Okike of Government College Ibadan, Christ Ambassadors College and American Christian Academy emerged as the first, second and third runners-up respectively.

Government College Ibadan has since been receiving encomiums from all and sundry for being the only Public Secondary School in the last Five of the oratory competition.

The distinguished First Lady of Ogun State, Dr (Mrs) Olufunso Amosun was the Chairperson of the event, courtesy of Splash FM, Ibadan. The Panel of Judges included Dr Olufunke Ogidan, Dr Adebisi Olawuyi, Taiwo Ibikunle and Mariam Adeola Gbadebo.
