1972 Set Donates Tennis Rackets to GCI
The 1972 Set of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA) has continued its support for sports development at Government College Ibadan with the donation of six lawn tennis rackets to the school.
The rackets were donated on February 13, 2026, by Koye Ojurongbe (2474, Swanston), a member of the 1972 Set. The gesture was made as part of the set’s ongoing commitment to promoting sporting activities and ensuring that the school continues to thrive in sports.
The donation follows the construction of a standard lawn tennis court by the 1972 Set in 2022, which was completed as their 50th Anniversary Legacy Project for the school.
Present at the brief presentation were Sina Fadugba, Treasurer of the 1972 Set, and Kolade Folorunso, Chairman of the set’s Lawn Tennis Committee. The items were received on behalf of the school by the Principal, Mr. Olugbemi Oresegun, while Mr. Opeyemi Okekeke, Acting School Administrator, was also in attendance.
The contribution further demonstrates the continued dedication of the 1972 Set to the development of sports and the overall growth of Government College Ibadan.
