PROVIDENCE
After gaining admission into several secondary schools including Igbobi College Yaba, ljebu Ode Grammar School, ljebu Ode and Comprehensive High School, Aiyetoro in 1971, I attended the interview for admission into Government College Ibadan which lasted a couple of days but this coincided with the letter of invitation from and interview for admission into King’s College Lagos. Hence, I attended a late interview at King’s college Lagos the following Monday. I found it shoddy unlike the interview at Government College Ibadan, which was quite interesting and lasted a couple of days during which I met with different young boys of my age group, many of whom had shown their latent traits and were to become y classmates in form one after gaining admission into Government College Ibadan in 1972.
So the die was cast, the stage was set and providence had brought me to Government College Ibadan where I already had my elder brother in Form Three. Coincidentally and fortunately for me, I was allotted to Grier House, the best house in the school (Up Maroon) and which incidentally was also my senior brother’s house and I was able to easily navigate my way around the house grounds and quickly settle down in school.
I came first in the Grier House test for Form One students and was awarded the traditional Banjo’s prize in 1972.
