1978, 1988 & 1983 Sets Renovate Blocks of Classrooms

image As part of their give-back to their Alma Mater, some Old Boys of Government College Ibadan under the umbrella body of their Sets have joined resources together to renovate the dilapidated structures in their Alma Mater. The renovated structures were commissioned on Saturday, 20th of October, 2018 during the 89th Anniversary and 2018 Annual Reunion programme of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association.

While celebrating their 40 years of entry into the prestigious college, the 1978 Set renovated the old Form II Block. The Old Form II Block, located between the School Assembly Hall and the old Form III Block is a storeyed building with 6 classrooms, restrooms and a staff room. The project was executed in addition to their financial contributions to the school's Fencing Project and the 89th Anniversary of the Association.

The 1983 Set, also marked their 35 years of entry into Government College Ibadan by giving the old Form II Block, fondly called Aso Rock by the present GCI boys, a total overhaul. The Block comprising 8 classrooms, 4 staff rooms and rest rooms was renovated, alongside the construction of a borehole to supply water to the building and neighbouring buildings. The project was executed in addition to their financial contribution to the 89th Anniversary of the Association.

While celebrating their 30 years of entry into the great citadel of learning, the 1988 Set renovated a block of 2 classrooms. The Block is from the old Swanston House and currently used by the Junior School I. The two classrooms were also furnished by the Pear celebrants. The project was executed in addition to their financial contributions to the school's Fencing Project and the 89th Anniversary of the Association.

The outgoing National President, Biodun Jolaoso (1964) commended the boys for their kind gesture and unflinching supports in restoration GCI to the school of our pride. The School Principal, Dr Tunde Odekunle also expressed his appreciation and assured the Sets that the projects would be properly maintained.
