GCI Wins 2018 Oyo State Children's Day March Past Competition
Government College Ibadan took part in the 2018 March Past Competition organised by the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs, Community Development, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation to mark the 2018 Children's Day anniversary themed "Creating Safe Spaces for Children: Our Collective Responsibility" which was globally celebrated on Sunday, 27th of May, 2018.
The March Past competition which took place at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan had in attendance all public secondary schools in the Pacesetter state.
The Cadet Boys in their neatly ironed grey trousers and shinning white longsleeve, adorned with the GCI tie firmly knotted, represented GCI at the event and stole the show with their sterling ceremonial presentation.
At the end, GCI came first. Thus far, encomiums and goodwill messages have been showered on the students, Principal, and the entire management of the school by both Old Boys and friends of the school at home and in the diaspora.
In his briefing, the School Principal, Dr Tunde Odekunle, said that the school have only claimed her birthright, and reiterated his unalloyed commitment in ensuring that the glory is sustained, not only in extracurricular activities, but also replicated in the academics. He thanked the Old Boys Association of the School for their unflinching supports in the restoration and repositioning of their Alma Mater.
