GCIOBA-1988 Set donates 400 dozens of book to GCI School Governing Board

The Class of 1988 of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association, on Wednesday, 22nd of November, 2017 donated 400 dozens of customised 60 leaves exercise books to Government College Ibadan School Governing Board, GCISGB.

The presentation was done shortly after the GCISGB meeting at the School Conference Room. While speaking at the presentation, the 1988 Class Chairman, Gbolaga Odedina said the kind gesture shown to their Alma Mater was in line with the second stanza of the school song which states that 'Service to others and not to self', consideration for our nation first', 'By our examples and not by precept', 'show honest labours dignity'. He urged every Old Boys and other younger Class Sets of the school to put into practice the lines of the song, so as to re-position and restore the lost glory of the school. He assured the Board that his Set would always give back to the prestigious College.

The Chairman of the Government College Ibadan Education Foundation Board and member of GCI School Governing Board, Yomi Jones (1963) received the books on behalf of GCISGB Chairman, Banwo Smith (1959), who was earlier present. He thanked the Boys of 1988 for keeping their Alma Mater at heart, and admonished them not to relent in their selfless services. He thereafter handed over the books to the Senior School Principal, Dr B.T. Odekunle for distribution to the newly admitted students.

The Principal thanked the 1988 boys, and congratulated them in advance for their forthcoming celebrations of 30 years of entry into Government College Ibadan. He wished them well in all their pursuits.

Gracing the event was also the Chairman of GCIOBA-North America Branch, Adeola Popoola (1971) who commended the boys of 1988 for their unflinching support to their Alma Mater. He promised to take the good news to his Branch in order to encourage the younger Old Boys in diaspora to emulate such kind gesture.

The GCIOBA-Ibadan Branch Chairman and member of GCI School Governing Board, Femi Babalola (1975) gave kudos to the 1988 Set Chairman and his members for their kind contributions to the School, Branch and the Association at large.
