GCIOBA-Ibadan Branch Elects New Executive Members

The 457th meeting of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association - Ibadan Branch, also known as the Home Branch came up on Sunday, the 12th of November, 2017 at the Banquet Hall of Jogor Centre, Ring Road, Ibadan.

The meeting which doubled as the last meeting of the year and last meeting of the administration, was hosted by the immediate past GCIOBA National Social Secretary, Wole Agbaje (1977), and presided over by the outgoing Chairman, Femi Babalola (1975).

The meeting had in attendance two members of the Trustees which were Banwo Smith (1959) and Kolade Mosuro (1964); the First and Second GCIOBA National Vice Presidents - Olaleye Falore (1962) and Obafunso Ogunkeye (1968), ancient Old Boys such as Toye Ogunbode (1950), Jide Bademosi (1953) and Remi Atanda (1957).

The meeting had 148 members in attendance while apologies were received from the Patron of the Association, Lekan Are (1948), and fourteen members of the Branch.

Femi Babalola (1975) - the outgoing Branch Chairman, in his stewardship report appreciated God Almighty for the success of the two-year tenure. He appreciated the Patron of the Association, Lekan Are (1948) for his support, and also the two GCIOBA Trustees in the Branch - Banwo Smith (1959) and Kolade Mosuro (1964), for their cooperation. He also thanked his predecessor, Yemi Badejoko (1959) for the solid foundation laid, and his executive members for their selfless services. He appreciated the distinguished members of the Branch for their unflinching commitments toward the uplift of the Branch.

After the agenda of the meeting were treated, the outgoing Chairman, Femi Babalola (1975) called upon one of the GCIOBA Trustees and former GCIOBA President in person of Banwo Smith (1959) to dissolve the outgoing Executive members. Having dissolved the outgone Executive members, he commended the outgone Excos for the terrific achievements recorded and their relentless efforts in membership drive. He thereafter called upon the Second National Vice President, Funso Ogunkeye (1968) to conduct the elections.

The open-system election was used, while nominations for various elective offices were received.

The outgone Social Secretary, Abayomi Oke (1979) was nominated for the post of Social Secretary, he was returned unopposed.
The outgone Financial Secretary, Babatunde Alao (1981) was nominated for the post of Financial Secretary, alongside Fasina Olatunbosun (1984); an election was conducted, the outgone Financial Secretary won the election.
The outgone Treasurer, Oluseun Abimbola (1981) was nominated for the post of Treasurer, and was returned unopposed.
The outgone Secretary, Adeniyi Adeoti (1980) was nominated for the post of Secretary, alongside Fasina Olatunbosun (1984); an election was conducted, the outgone Secretary won the election.
The outgone Vice Chairman, Yanju Adegbite (1967) was nominated for the post of Vice - Chairman, and was returned unopposed.
The outgone Chairman, Femi Babalola (1975) was nominated for the post of Chairman, and was returned unopposed.

Two Ex-officios Yinka Adepoju (1971) and Jegede Oladele (1988) continued as Ex-officio, while the third Ex-officio, Sesan Ogunsanwo (1963) stepped down, and was replaced by Fasina Olatunbosun (1984).

The outgone Assistant Secretary, Okeleke Opeyemi (2000) continued as the Assistant Secretary.

A brand new 10.1� WiFi Tablet courtesy of Idea Konsult Limited was used for American Auction, which was auctioned off by Banwo Smith (1959) and won by Remi Atanda (1950).

The meeting was rounded off with a toast to the Young Girl of Wole Agbaje (1977). The toast was conducted by Afolabi Olalekan(1977), Sesan Ogunsanwo (1963) and Femi Babalola (1975).
