GCIOBA-Ibadan Branch Awards Akin Orowale (1968) and University Press Plc.
The Ibadan Branch of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association also known as The Mother Branch or The Home Branch celebrated her 2017 Annual Luncheon on Sunday, 10th of September, 2017 at Felicia Hall of Jogor Centre, Ibadan.
The classy event held under the chairmanship of the Branch Chairman, Engr Olufemi Babalola (1975), was themed 'MADE IN NIGERIA: CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXPORT'. The Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Mr Segun Awolowo Jnr., - a distinguished Old Boy was the Guest Speaker while the Oyo State Honourable Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Cooperative, Princess Taibat Adeyemi-Agaba was made the Special Guest of Honour for the Homecoming Luncheon.
Recently added to the Ibadan Branch Hall of Fame was Mr Akindele Orowale. Mr Akin Orowale was in Field House and a Foundation Member of Powell House, he is from the 1968 Set, and a staunch member of the Branch. He is a well trained Journalist who voluntarily retired from the services of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) as an Assistant Director of Information and Public Affairs. He was honoured in recognition of his positive contributions to the promotion of GCI values and ideals.
University Press Plc - Nigeria's largest and first indigenous Book Publisher was the second Honoree. UP Plc was honoured for its competence and professionalism in the field of Publishing since its inception, and in acknowledgement of his continuous support for Government College Ibadan, and Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association, GCIOBA. UP Plc would be the first corporate organisation to be honoured by the Branch.
The Planning Committee Chairman, and Honourable Commissioner of Justice, Mr Oluseun Abimbola Esq. congratulated the Awardees for the well deserved Merit Awards, and urged all members to be diligent in their membership to the Association.
