LOAFY'S DEXTERITY: SIMPLY PUT AMAZING
GCI was a beautiful school with fantastic scenery, what with green and verdant fields of the houses and our lovely hockey and main fields. The school's large expanse of grounds afforded boys the opportunity for various types of adventures, not only did we practice bowling and batting against the backdrop of the Old Dining Halls Walls; we also played hockey and football on the fields.
The whole school was like a massive orchard with different types of fruit trees all over the place. Gboyega Olagbaiye (a.k.a. Loafy) I dare say honed his bowling skills as a fantastic seam bowler by aiming sticks at mangoes, almond fruits and the likes. All you had to do to get a choice fruit you had spotted on a tree, was appeal to Loafy to kindly pluck it for you and you could consider it done. Loafy went on to win school colors in Cricket for his bowling skills and his accuracy at getting batsmen bowled out effortlessly.
Loafy is now in the U.S. where the lovely game of cricket is not given the prominence of place it should normally have. Kudos to a fantastic cricketer an awesome bowler in our set.
