South West U-19 Cricket Tournament for Prof. Jide Bademosi Cup.

image The maiden edition of the South West U-19 Cricket Tournament kicked off today (20-April-2017) with two matches played simultaneously between Oyo and Ogun States while Lagos State took on Osun State in the 40overs game.

First Match
Ogun State won the toss and elected to field first against an experienced and young Oyo State team.

Oyo State went on to post a high total of 203 runs for the loss of 5wkts in 40overs.

Captain of Oyo State runsewe Sulaimon top scored for his team with 53 runs off 55balls, Olaleye Elijah contributed to his teams total with 47 runs off 47balls, Adewoye Vincent also contributed by scoring 30 runs not out off 18balls.

Ogundipe Segun of Ogun State bowled 8overs conceded 19 runs and had 2wkts finishing with an average of 9.5. Adeleke Olumide, Oduntan Quadri and Onifade Samuel of all took 1wkt respectively.

Oyo state bowlers quickly wrapped up the Ogun batsmen bowling them all out for 85 runs in 20.4overs. Adeleke Olumide of Ogun State could only manage 11 runs off 15balls while Adila Samuel also contributed to his teams total with 10 runs off 19balls.

Adekoya Goke, Olaleye Elijah and Uduak Kingsley all off Oyo State took 2wkts respectively.

Oyo State defeated Ogun State by 118 runs to secure their first victory of the tournament. Man of the match: runsewe Sulaiman (Oyo State)

Second Match
Osun State won the toss and elected to bat first against a talented Lagos State team. Osun state were bowled out for 45 runs 19.1overs. Sakariyan Sikirulahi top scored for Osun State with 12 runs off 19balls. Oladele Dapo and Lagos State
Captain Oluronbi Simisola took 4wkts respectively restricting the relatively inexperienced Osun State batsmen.

Muhammed Moshood and Adewusi Pelumi opened the batting scoring 27 runs and 18 runs respectively for Lagos State to win the game posting a total of 46 runs for no loss in 6.1overs

Lagos State trounced Osun State by 10wkts to go up the table.
