GCI CELEBRATES 2022 JETS DAY, CO-SPONSORED BY 1991 SEPTEMBER SET

Government College Ibadan joined other secondary schools in the State to celebrate the 2022 Annual JETS Day.

The 2022 Annual Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientists (JETS) Club day was held on Friday, 11th February, 2022 at the School Assembly hall.

The event co sponsored by the 1991 September Set had in attendance Speakers from the GCI Old Boys Association, precisely Wole Olulade - the Chairman of 1979 Set, Dr Miss Aremu from the Food Science & Technology Department, University of Ibadan; Dr Olusola Ayoola - CEO and Founder of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria as well as Master John Oseni, a Multi-talented Teenage Software Developer & Author who all inspired the GCI Boys with their various mind-boggling presentations. The Oyo State Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology was ably represented by Mr. Abidiran.

The JETS club is a science club for senior secondary school students which teaches sciences in its raw and applied form to its members. As such, the 1991 September Set through the Educational arm of the Set, adopted the club as its pet's club, in a bid to broadening the horizon of the club members in the field of Science and Technology.

The event had science based oral competition amongst the Schools of Science in Ibadan, whereby Olapade Alayande School of Science came first, while Government College Ibadan and Wesley College of Science and Technology came second and third respectively.

Esuola David of SSS 3 was also awarded for his innovative project which was adjudged as the overall best project of the school.
