EVENT TYPE:

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde has reiterated the commitment of his administration to improve the status quo of education in the state.
Makinde said this during the 2021 annual reunion of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA) and the 92nd anniversary of Government College Ibadan.
Seyi who commissioned some projects in commemoration of the school’s anniversary applauded the GCIOBA for their tireless efforts on the school.

He said: “The premises of the school look like a massive construction site. Everywhere you see construction work going on. We will support them to the fullest as much as possible. Whatever they need from government they will get it”.

“We always have challenges no matter how good the system is. We have challenges with the quality of teachers and also getting parents to know that they have primary responsibility to train their children. We have to do more on that so that parents can complement what we are doing.”
The National President of GCIOBA and Chairman, Bi-Courtney group, Bolanle Olawale Babalakin (SAN) (2273, Grier, 1971) lauded the Governor for granting autonomy to the school.
He said “Governor Makinde’s efforts in considering autonomy for GCI is reverberating across the country. With the Governor’s effort, we will reposition GCI to be the best in Nigeria.”
