J.O. MOLOMO

PRINCIPAL (1976 - 1978)

Mr. John Olasupo Molomo was born on 26th February 1925 at Ataari, Egbeda local government, Ibadan. He is a native “son of the soil” of Ibadan with his family compound at Opopo Labiran and his village at Ataari near Erunmu.

He grew up attending elementary school in Erunmu and Ibadan from 1934 – 1941 and attended Government College Ibadan from January 1942 – December 1946 where he was able to complete his Cambridge University Certificate in 4 years. After his graduation from GCI, he proceeded to teach Science and Mathematics at Ibadan Grammar School from 1947 – 1952. He later attended the University of Ibadan from 1953 – 1958 for his Undergraduate Degree (B.Sc. Honours in Botany) after which he proceeded to Oxford University in the UK for a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education University (1960 – 1961).

Mr. Molomo worked as a Teacher, Principal and Education Administrator throughout his professional career and was privileged to work at the following schools:

-S.D.A. School Erunmu
-Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife
-Ilesha Grammar School, Ilesha (Vice Principal / Principal)
-The International School, University of Ibadan
-Government College Ibadan (Principal)

He retired as a Chief Inspector of Education (Science and Mathematics) in July 1984 after 34 years of service to the profession.
He has been married to his lovely wife, Mrs. Ruth Omowunmi Molomo for 51 years and they currently reside in the country home at Erunmu, Ibadan.

They are blessed with 6 children (all GCI and QSI products) and several grandchildren.
