Professor Rotimi Jaiyesimi (1966 - 1972), school number 1658 and was in Grier House.

West African School Certificate {1970}; Higher School Certificate {1972). Graduated 1978 Medicine, University of Ibadan.

1966/67, was a member of the cast of the school play - Hobson 's Choice. Was President of the Philately Society, Member of the Literary and Debating Society, the Science Society and Lead of the Scouts' Movement and Editor of the house literary magazine, Mustard Seed, in 1971-1972.

Head of Grier House
He was appointed Deputy Head of Grier House in 1971 and became the substantive Head of House in 1972. He successfully undertook this role, maintaining discipline while ensuring all Griersons had a pleasant time.

National Level - Secretary, GCIOBA Ibadan Branch)
Professor Jaiyesimi was the Secretary of the GCIOBA (Ibadan Branch) 1983-1985. He left Nigeria for the UK in 1985 and has continued to be active and relevant in matters relating to GCI. He appeared in the video documentary, Legends of GCI in 2018.

International Level - Establishment of the Old Boy's Association in Europe
A founding member of the Europe branch of the GCIOBA, he served as Vice Chairman from its inception in 1993 to 1998 and as Chairman from 1998 to 2001.
Oversaw the support given to the school to raise its standards through financial contributions for scholarships, prizes for deserving students, donations of sports equipment and the employment and salary payment of three teachers.
He was recognised by the Europe Branch for his services during the 25th anniversary celebrations of the branch in December 2018.

GCIOBA 1966-1972 class set
Rotimi has been an active participant in the activities of the class set, attending meetings if it coincides with visits to Nigeria, making financial contributions towards the school. He has fulfilled his financial obligations.

Professional Life
He reached the pinnacle of his professional career as a clinician, academic and manager. He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and a Masters degree in Medical Law. One of the first Nigerians to be appointed Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the UK in 1993, he is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). He holds the unique position of being appointed visiting and adjunct professor in two diverse professions, health sciences and law by the University of Sunderland and University of Ibadan respectively.

He is the first medical doctor to lecture at the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. He is the Associate Medical Director for Patient Safety and Consultant Gynaecologist at Basildon University Hospital, Essex. He has contributed to the advancement of medicine through his many publications and lectures delivered nationally and internationally. He is an acknowledged international expert witness, appearing in courts in the UK and Trinidad on behalf of patients (plaintiffs).

Contribution to Nigeria- selfless service
Though away from Nigeria for 33 years, he has maintained links with GCI and the Nigerian Health Sector. He has been on medical missions to UCH Ibadan, Abeokuta, Abuja and Sagamu. Professor Jaiyesimi is at the forefront of promoting the reversal of the brain drain and was Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Medical Excellence and Diasporan Engagement (PRIME and PRIDE} from April 2016 to October 2017. He contributed to the National Policy on Diaspora Matters in 2016 and is currently a member of the Diaspora Professional Healthcare Initiative. He worked with others, producing the National Policy on Gender and Health. He promotes Health Education to Nigerians through his Facebook platform, Nigerian Health Service, with over 14,000 followers.

National and International Awards
A multi-award winner- includes being honoured by his alma mater, University of Ibadan in November 2018 with a 'Lifetime Achievement Award', the UK Health Service Journal National Award for Innovative Development in 2014. Other awards: British Medical Association Research Award (1997), Health Education East of England Quality in Education and Training Awards, 2015, Legend Recognition Award, Creativity
and Arts Award (2015}, The MANSAG Award by Nigerian Healthcare Professionals in the UK (2015), the Zenith Global Healthcare Special Recognition Award for excellence in healthcare (2017). Professor Jaiyesimi, recognised at· home and internationally, was elected KARIFEST Man of the Year in 2016. He is a man of integrity with an exemplary character.

Professor Jaiyesimi's contribution to the UK Health Service has been significant, serving the NHS since 1989 has been described by his peers in England as an asset to the UK National Health Service.

He is married to Morenike, a Chartered Accountant and have three children, Tayo (a Pharmacist}, Deji(a Paediatrician) and Oreoluwa (deceased).
