GCIOBA-Ibadan Branch Chairman's Speech At The 2013 Annual Luncheon

WELCOME ADDRESS OF GCIOBA IBADAN BRANCH CHAIRMAN, AT THE 2013 ANNUAL LUNCHEON, SYMPOSIUM & MERIT AWARD HELD ON SUNDAY, 16TH OF JUNE, 2013 AT FELICIA HALL, JOGOR CENTRE, OFF OLD LIBERTY STADIUM ROAD, IBADAN.

It is with great pleasure and joy that I welcome you all to the 2nd Annual Luncheon, Symposium and Award Ceremony, to celebrate our togetherness at Ibadan Branch of Government College Old Boys Association. This year we shall apart from the good feeding on sumptuous meals, drinks and appreciation of some of our distinguished old students, we shall also be robbing minds on the way forward to reposition our old school to the level of past glory with a symposium where eminent scholars will put forward ideas and solutions that will lead to lasting proper glory of our dear school.

Let me at this juncture add this to our food of thought, Will Re-introduction of compulsory boarding house policy help to re-establish the glory of Government College Ibadan? If the answer is YES, and possible answers to most of our decline in the secondary education, let the government give it a thought and chance to create role model secondary schools with educational policy of re-introduction of compulsory boarding houses in the role model schools.

Furthermore, teachers of less than 5 years teaching experience shall not teach in such schools. The number of students per class shall not be more than 30 with only 3 arms.

Please let us fly these ideas and let the prayer be put before the executive and legislative councils of the State.

Prominent and distinguished old students of GCI and guest, you are once again welcome to an afternoon of life changing events in our educational system and lifting of the spirit of old students of Government College Ibadan.

Adeyemi Badejoko
Chairman, GCIOBA Ibadan Branch.
