GCIOBA-1986 Set Rewards GCI Teachers

GCIOBA-1986 Set Rewards GCI Teachers

There is an old saying that has now become a cliché which says that teachers' rewards are in heaven but in Government College Ibadan, the rewards of its teachers are verily before them in their lines of duty.

The 1986 Set of Government College Ibadan has taken the bull by the horns by ensuring that the determined, dedicated and smart working teachers of GCI are duly recognised and rewarded for their selfless services and sacrifices.

After a thorough independent screening, four different teachers were chosen on merit from the Junior and Senior Secondary Schools for the rewards, and awards of excellence.

Mrs O.O.A. Alabi, a Business Studies and Computer Science Teacher, and Mr M.A. Kehinde, a Christian Religious Studies Teacher; emerged as recipients from Junior School I and Junior School II respectively. Mr S.A. Adeyemi from the Mathematics Department and Mr S.A. Olayiwola from the Arts Department emerged as the recipients from the Senior Secondary School.

Each of the recipients received a sum of Thirty Thousand Naira, and an award of excellence on the 22nd of May, 2018 at GCI grounds shortly after the morning assembly.

While speaking on behalf of the recipients and the entire staff of the school, Mr Adeyemo lauded the kind gesture and thoughtfulness of the 1986 Set. He said such recognition would encourage hardwork, promote healthy rivalry, and ultimately increase in leaps and bounds the output of the entire staff.

Seun Akin Esho (Field), the Chairman of the Set reassured the School Principal, Dr Tunde Odekunle, of his Set's unparalleled commitment to the holistic development of the school. It would be recalled that the 1986 Set had two months ago, rewarded 6 outstanding students of the School.
