GCI GETS DISINFECTED AND DECONTAMINATED

EVENT TYPE:

Three (3) blocks of classrooms, as well as Powell House were disinfected and decontaminated against germs, micro-organisms, and Covid-19 virus on Friday, 23rd October, 2020.

This was done as a Corporate Social Responsibility by Dr Niran Adeleye - a Health, Safety and Environmental expert of the World Safety Organisation; to support schools, students and communities in Oyo State in ensuring a sanitized, clean and conducive environment for not only learning but also living, especially in these odd moments of Covid-19 pandemic.

While briefing the students shortly after the project, Dr Adeleye mentioned that his age long friend, Kola Gbenro (4545, Field, 1981) recommended Government College Ibadan to him. He noted that GCI, though big in area and well endowed with gigantic and gorgeous facilities, just like a University, the disinfection/decontamination project done from his personal purse could not cover all the facilities on campus. However strategic blocks like the old Form 2 block, old Form 3 block (now called Aso Rock), old Form 5 block; and Powell House housing the senior secondary school students and boarding students respectively were disinfected, and decontaminated.

The Deputy Head of School, Oluwayemi Ifeoluwa, on behalf of the students and members of staff of GCI; appreciated Dr Niran Adeleye and his project team; as well as Kola Gbenro of 1981 Set for making GCI a beneficiary of the CSR project and prayed for them outstanding success in all their pursuits.
