STATUS:

Meshach Ototiki Feyide (1926 – 1997)

Chief M.O. Feyide later attended the Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter and Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London . He was Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) from Jan 1, 1975 through Dec 31, 1976.

A U.S. Embassy cable of December 17, 1974 states “for the two-year term beginning January 1, 1975, (M.O. Feyide) is by far the most qualified Nigerian who could have been named to the post. Judging from the way he has run the Nigerian Department of Petroleum Resources for the past ten years, he can be expected to demand a high degree of control over his staff and their activities."
