PRINCIPAL (2001 - 2002)

Mr. Francis Adeniyi Ademola was born on the 25th of April, 1948 in Iseyin, Oyo State of Nigeria. He had his early education both primary and secondary in the Roman Catholic Mission School in Iseyin and Oyo respectively. He prepared himself for teaching profession by attending Grade III Teacher Training College in Iseyin and later to Grade II Teacher Training College in Lagos, Nigeria.

In January 1971, after obtaining Grade II Certificate, he started his teaching career at St. Thomas Primary School, Surulere Lagos and ended it up in September 1974. He moved to University of Ibadan in October 1974 where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Education with History as the major subject in June 1977. After his National Youth Service Corps in Benue State, he had a brief stay in Baptist Secondary School Ilora under the then Oyo State Central School’s Board between August 1978 and November 1979. He joined the Civil Service of Oyo State on November 30, 1979 and was posted to Government College Ibadan as a teacher of History.

In 1980, he became the Head of Department of History in Government College Ibadan and House Master of Powell House. He was assigned to teach Higher School Certificate Class (HSC). In August 1985, he was posted to Odo-Otin Local Government in Okuku, now in Osun State as the Local Inspector of Education (L.I.E.).

Since then, he served as Local Inspector of Education in Saki, Gbode-Osi, Iwo, Iseyin Local Government and Ibadan North East Local Government, Iwo Road. After his promotion as an Assistant Director of Education in 1991, he returned to Government College Ibadan as Vice Principal Academics. In April 1994, he was given a political assignment as Supervisory Councilor for Education, Community Development, Youth and Sports in Iseyin Local Government.

In December 1999, he was posted to Oyo as the Zonal Inspector of Education. After a brief stay as Zonal Inspector of Education, Oyo; he returned to Government College Ibadan as the Principal and Director of Education, Oyo State in April 2001. Thereafter, he was posted to Saki as the Inspector of Education from 2003 to 2004.

On the request of the Old Boys of Government College Ibadan, he was called back to Government College Ibadan by the Hon. Commissioner for Education as the Principal on a second tour. He finally retired in Government College Ibadan as the Principal in April 2008.

While in Government College Ibadan, his interest apart from moral and academic pursuit vested in the School Cadet, throughout his tenure in office as the Principal of Government College Ibadan, he enjoyed the full support of both staff, students and the entire Old Boys of Government College Ibadan. He worked with the caliber of Dr. Lekan Are, Mr. Banwo Smith, Mr. Mosuro and others who made his stay as the Principal for about seven years a memorable one.

He is married with Children.
